People can contribute to a campaign on Indiegogo with a credit card or through PayPal. Campaign owners can choose whether to enable only one or both methods of payment. To learn how to set this up, see our article: How to Set Your Payment Type.
If your campaign is raising funds on behalf of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit institution in the United States, raising funds in non-USD currency, or connected to certain Partner organizations, your campaign may be able to offer only a single payment type to your contributors. See "Payment Type Restrictions" for more information.
Indiegogo accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. At this time, we do not accept prepaid cards.
Contributions made by credit card are debited from the contributor's card immediately.
Funds contributed via credit card are held by Indiegogo until the end of your campaign. Your funds are disbursed to your account within 15 business days, assuming your account informaton is complete and valid. Campaign owners receive a confirmation email when funds are initiated for disbursement.
Funds will be sent as either an ACH (to a U.S. bank account) or wire (to a bank account located outside the United States).
If your campaign is a Verified Nonprofit Campaign, disbursements are triggered on a different schedule. Please see our Help Center article on How to Raise Funds for a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit for details.
The payment processor will charge a 3% fee on each contribution. This is charged in addition to your Indiegogo platform fee.
To make a contribution using PayPal, the contributor can either sign in to a PayPal account or elect to "Pay as a Guest." If someone chooses "Pay as a Guest", they can use a credit card without having a Paypal account. For instructions on how to Pay as a Guest on PayPal, please visit: How to Contribute via PayPal without a PayPal Account.
If you choose Flexible Funding, contributions made by PayPal will be sent instantly to your PayPal account. You will see a subsequent deduction equal to 9% of the contribution, from your Paypal account, to Indiegogo. This is payment for our platform fee. You will receive an email confirming each contribution.
At the end of your campaign, if you have met your goal, we will reimburse you for 5% of all funds raised on PayPal, so that your net platform fee is only 4%. The reimbursement will be sent directly to your PayPal account, up to 10 business days after your campaign deadline.
If you choose Fixed Funding, funds contributed via PayPal are held by PayPal until your campaign reaches its goal. When your campaign reaches its goal, the funds are then disbursed to your PayPal account. If your campaign does not reach its goal, all contributions are refunded within 5 days after your campaign deadline.
Paypal will charge a fee of about 3% on each contribution, depending on your account status. For more information on this, please visit PayPal Fees.
International or cross-border transactions may be charged additional fees by PayPal for currency exchange (see: Transaction Fees for Cross-Border Payments). For a complete breakdown of PayPal's payment processing fees based on your account type and region, we recommend reaching out to PayPal Support directly.
To learn how to set up your PayPal account, read our article: How to Set Up Your PayPal Account.
If you decide to run a Fixed Funding campaign, in which you will only receive the funds you raise on your campaign if you meet your funding goal, you will be able to accept payments via PayPal only. For more information about what it means to run a Fixed Funding versus a Flexible Funding campaign structure, please see: Fixed vs. Flexible Funding.
Campaigns raising funds on behalf of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit institution in the United States will be able to accept contributions via credit card only. Please see our Help Center article on How to Raise Funds for a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit for details.

For more information about what organizations we partner with and how to get in contact with each partner, please browse through our related Help Center articles: Fiscal Sponsorships & Partners.
Campaigns raising funds in CAD (C$), EUR (€) or GBP (£) will be able to accept contributions via PayPal only.
If you’d like to raise a campaign that can receive contributions via direct credit card as well, you will need to raise funds in USD ($) currency. For credit card funds raised in USD, Indiegogo will be able to send money to any non-U.S. bank account via bank-to-bank wire transfer. If you are running your campaign outside of the United States, please see International Campaigns for more important information.
