As of February 1, 2017, campaigns raising funds in USD will be able to raise funds exclusively through credit card. Any funds raised prior to February 1 through PayPal will still be disbursed to your PayPal account per the normal disbursement process. If you are connected to a fiscal sponsor, you will continue to be able to use PayPal until March 30. For more information on the fiscal sponsor timeline, please see our article here.
CAD, GBP, AUD, and EUR important dates:
As of February 14, only campaigns raising funds in AUD will be able to enable PayPal on their campaigns. Credit card payments for Euro were enabled on February 14 for all new campaigns. On February 15, we will be enabling credit card payments on existing Euro campaigns. Please look out for an email from us.
PayPal will be removed as a payment option for all Euro campaigns (draft, live, and InDemand) on February 28, 2017. Please see our Help Center article here for instructions on setting up your funds tab.
As of January 11, 2017, only campaigns raising funds in EUR and AUD were able to enable PayPal on their campaigns. If you have not enabled a verified PayPal on your campaign (draft or live) by January 11, and are raising funds in CAD or GBP, you will no longer be able to enable PayPal. You will instead see only the direct credit card payment option. If you enabled PayPal prior to January 11, PayPal will still be available on your campaign, however, please be on the lookout for additional notifications from Indiegogo regarding your payment options.
Why are you making this change?
We’ve received a lot of feedback over the years from our customers about available payment options, and are excited to offer our campaigners and contributors a more streamlined, consistent process with one payment processor. This shift has some great added benefits for you, such as: funds disbursed as one lump sum to a bank account, consistent payment processing fees charged to every campaign owner, and better support insights, including into why charges are declined.
How can I setup my campaign to receive funds through credit card?
You can do this on your campaign's funding tab by selecting the credit card radio button. Please make sure to select the correct currency and bank account country before you go live (read more about this here). If you've selected USD with a bank account in the United States, you must have a US bank account to receive your funds. If you raise funds in CAD, you must have a Canadian bank account. If you choose GBP, you must have a bank account in the UK.
If you're raising funds in USD and are planning to have them sent to a United States bank account, please see our Help Center article about setting up your account. If you're raising funds in CAD, GBP, or anticipate sending your USD funds to a non-US bank account, please see here. If you're raising funds in Euro, please see our article about sending funds to bank accounts in the EU.
Why can't I have a fixed funding campaign in GBP or CAD?
At this time, fixed funding is only available for campaigns raising funds in USD, EUR and AUD. Please select one of those as your currency if you want to run a fixed funding campaign. We're hoping to be able to offer all currencies for fixed funding in the future.
When will you be turning off PayPal for currently live and InDemand campaigns that have PayPal enabled?
We removed the PayPal option for all USD campaigns on February 1 (except fiscally sponsored campaigns). Please make sure you've enabled credit card payments to continue your crowdfunding campaign.
We will be removing the PayPal option for all EUR campaigns on February 28. Please make sure you've enabled credit card payments to continue your crowdfunding campaign.
Please look out for emails from us, or check back here, for further information on the PayPal removal timeline for CAD, GBP, and AUD. This should happen by early spring 2017.
How will I receive the funds I already raised?
Once we turn off PayPal on your live project, you'll no longer be able to receive new contributions through PayPal. Any contributions already made through PayPal will still be disbursed to your PayPal account as normal. Please make sure to keep your PayPal account in good standing so that you can receive these funds.
Are you planning to make this change for AUD as well?
Yes. If you have a live campaign raising funds in AUD, please watch your email for further information from us over the next few months, or check back here. We will update you as necessary regarding upcoming changes to your funding options.
