What are Referral Perks?
Referral Perks allow you to offer a special, unlockable reward to backers who help spread the word about your campaign. If you're planning to run a referral contest, a Referral Perk is an easy way to incentivize your backers to share your campaign.
How does it work?
Campaigners have the option to create one Referral Perk for their campaign. As the campaigner, you set the dollar amount a backer needs to bring to your campaign through sharing in order to unlock the perk.
Once you publish the perk, every backer will see how to unlock it on their Thank You page and their order confirmation email. All backers will also be able to view active referral rewards and track their progress on the Referrals tab of their Indiegogo profiles.
We'll give you a special link that you can share with users to direct them to a screen where they are prompted to signup/login so they can start sharing the campaign to unlock the Referral Perk.
When the backer unlocks the perk, they will only be able to claim it once, as long as your campaign is still live and there are perks still available.
How do I create a Referral Perk?
Create a Referral Perk on the Perks tab of your Campaign Editor.
Set the Minimum Referral Requirement. This is the minimum total amount of funds a backer needs to generate for your campaign through sharing in order to unlock the perk.
Fill in the rest of the details about your perk. Consider setting a realistic number available. Remember that this perk will be available for backers to unlock throughout your campaign, so if you expect to have a limited inventory, it's best to limit the number available.
Please note that once you publish your Referral Perk, you won't be able to edit it once you launch your campaign. If you publish it while your campaign is live, you won't be able to make any changes, even if no one has claimed it.
How do I manage Referral Perks?
Once backers start unlocking your Referral Perk, you’ll be able to keep track of how many times it’s been claimed on your Campaign Dashboard. You can see it, and all your other perks on the Perks tab of your dashboard.
If you don't want new backers to see your Referral Perk, you can prevent them from seeing it on the Perks tab of your Campaign Editor. Open the Referral Perk and click the "Stop showing backers the Referral Perk" link.
Please note that even if you stop showing backers your referral perk, if a backer meets the minimum requirement, they will still be able to unlock the perk throughout the entire duration of your campaign, including your time in InDemand (if applicable).
