After your campaign ends, the campaigning part of your project is over, and you enter the follow-up and perk fulfillment part of your campaigner experience. During this time, it is vital to keep your backers and community engaged and happy with continuous communication on your project's progress and perk fulfillment timeline (if applicable). There are several ways you can communicate to your backers via Indiegogo:
Continue Updating
Promote a sense of community and keep your backers happy by continuing to send updates regularly (Click "Updates" tab on your campaign page). Set the expectation for your backers right after your campaign ends on how frequently you’ll be updating them. Every two weeks to once a month would be a good frequency for you to send updates. In your updates after the campaign ends, some important pieces of information you may include are:
- Your project timeline, progress, or delays.
- Any visual content such as images of prototypes, sample perks, videos, or visual project timeline. This way you convey information in an engaging manner.
- Your direct contact information if necessary, so that backers may reach out to you for any post-campaign questions.
- The date of your next campaign update and make sure you post it then.
It is important to note that if there are any changes to your project or your ability to fulfill your perks, communicate with your backers immediately. Your backers will appreciate your prompt communication and transparency. In addition, people tend to be forgiving when they are kept in the loop, even you may be delaying perk fulfillment or unable to fulfill perks.
Contact Individual Backers
You may need to contact certain backers individually to communicate specific information such as your gratitude towards large-amount backers, any delays in perk fulfillment for backers claiming specific perks, or request for more information from specific backers regarding their preferences towards certain perks (for example: t-shirt size, color, their updated shipping address, if any, etc). All the information you need to contact individual backers is located on the "Perks Claimed & Donations" tab of your campaign Dashboard.
The "Perks Claimed & Donations" tab includes:
- Names and email addresses of your backers
- Shipping information
- Perk selected
- Contribution amount
- All of this information can also be exported as a CSV file.
Keep Replying to Backer Comments, Messages, and Questions
Backers will likely continue commenting on your campaign page or sending you direct messages via your Indiegogo profile to ask you questions or post feedback. We strongly suggest that you continue communicating with your community by replying to these comments and private messages. In addition, if you see repeat questions or comments from your community, you may also address them altogether by sending an FAQ-type update to all backers.
