Indiegogo's new gifting feature allows campaign backers to easily order perks as gifts for friends and family. You can now share the crowdfunding experience by sending a perk to someone you care about.
1. How do I use the gifting feature?
When you back a campaign, you will have the option to select the “This order is a gift” checkbox during the checkout process. Simply add the gift recipient's name, email address, and your optional message. Add the gift recipient's shipping address and your credit card information, click "submit payment" and you're good to go!
2. Can I gift a perk to someone who doesn't have an Indiegogo account?
Yes! Anyone can receive a gift, even if they don’t have an Indiegogo account. In fact, the gift giver doesn’t even need an Indiegogo account to send someone a gift. Simply check out as a guest.
3. Will the gift recipient see the price I paid for the gift?
No. You'll still receive a confirmation email with a detailed breakdown of what you paid, but we'll send a separate email to the gift recipient with your message and no price.
4. Can I choose the delivery date for the gift perk?
Currently, the delivery date for the gift perk is determined by the campaign creator's estimated delivery schedule. You will be able to see the estimated delivery date before gifting a perk in the Perks section of the campaign page.
5. Can I schedule the delivery date for the gift email?
Currently the gift email is sent when you complete checkout. However, we have plans to add the ability to schedule the gift email in the future.
6. Is there a fee for using the gifting feature?
No, there are no additional fees for using the gifting feature. You'll only pay for the perk and any associated shipping costs, just like a regular campaign backer.
7. Can I gift perks for multiple campaigns in a single transaction?
Currently, you can only gift perks for one campaign at a time. If you want to gift perks for multiple campaigns, you'll need to complete separate transactions.
8. What if the recipient doesn't want the gift perk?
If the gift recipient doesn’t want the gift, the customer who backed the gift must reach out for a refund.
Indiegogo’s standard refund policy applies to gifts as well. Contributions can be refunded before:
- The contribution funds are disbursed to the campaign owner;
- The campaign ends; or
- The perk(s) is categorized as either “Locked”or “Shipped” status by the campaign owner.
- “Locked” status means that the campaign owner has indicated that the perk(s) is ready for shipment.
- “Shipped” status means that the campaign owner has indicated that the perk(s) is in the process of being shipped to backer(s).

9. Is the gifting feature available on all campaigns?
The availability of the gifting feature depends on the campaign creator's preferences. Not all campaigns may offer this feature, so be sure to look for the checkout option when backing a campaign.
