What is ID Verification?
Before we can send you your campaign funds, you may be required to complete certain checks to verify your identity and information. Any company that collects and sends out money needs to complete a series of checks, known as Know Your Customer, or KYC. It's part of our obligation to government agencies with regard to OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) and anti-money laundering policies.
When will I have to complete my verification?
Campaigns created after March 31, 2020 will need to complete the Funds Recipient Verification in order to launch.
How will I know that I have to do this?
If you meet the above requirements, we'll send you an email to let you know that you need to complete some additional verification steps.
You can also find the link to verify your identity on the Funding tab of your Campaign Editor. Select the 'Verify Your ID' button as shown below, to complete the verification process.
It can take up to 24-48 hours for the information you submit to be verified. During this time the Funds Recipient Verification will show the following status: Verification Pending
I'm running my campaign under my company name. Whose information do I use?
According to our Terms of Use, the campaign owner is legally responsible for your project. Please use the name and identity information of the Legal Representative of the campaign or the Owner/Director of your business. If your company is working with an agency, and an agency representative is listed as the campaign owner, please use the information of the actual person at your company responsible for your campaign.
How do I complete this process?
Navigate to the Funding tab located in your Campaign Editor. Scroll down to the section titled 'Funds Recipient Verification'. Select the 'Verify Your ID' button. You will then be prompted to provide the relevant details associated with your campaign setup.
Ex: If you chose to launch your campaign as a business, you will need to provide the legal entity name and Tax ID.
All the documents you submit should be in color, readable, and unobstructed.
What documents will I need to provide?
You will be asked to upload a government-issued photo ID. You'll need to upload this in JPG, PNG, or PDF format. Please make sure you upload a clear, readable, color photo following the requirements as described here. In some cases, you may be asked to provide additional documentation such as an address verification document. Please see the list of eligible documents and the submission criteria here.
How do I know my submission was successful?
If your submission is successful, you'll see the 'Funds Recipient Verification' display a status of 'Verified' as shown below. Please note it may take 24-48 hours to display this status.
If your submission is rejected, the Funds Recipient Verification status will revert back to 'Not Verified' as discussed earlier.
