GDPR stands for "General Data Protection Regulation" and will will come into effect on May 25, 2018. GDPR is the European Union's new data privacy law which aims to standardize data privacy laws currently in place across most of Europe, including the 28 member countries of the EU and the 3 additional member countries of the EEA. The regulation provides individuals with certain rights over their personal data, including a right to access, correct, delete, and restrict processing of their data.

Requests under GDPR can be made by users that are EU residents. If you are a campaign owner, you may be required to take action based on where your backers are based.

What is personal information?
Personal information includes data that may be used to identify an individual, such as a full name, address, phone number, email, etc. Images in campaign stories in most cases are not personal information.
How does GDPR affect campaign owners?
If you are a campaigner, you may have backers that are EU residents. You may want to consider doing the following:
- Provide or delete personal information if you're storing or using it off Indiegogo, should they request it. This might include copies of information in your CSV that you’ve downloaded from campaign dashboard or other fulfillment tools that you’ve used.
- Consider consulting with a lawyer for guidance on how these new rules could directly affect you.
