You can make a contribution on behalf of a friend or a family member, unless you are the campaign owner of that campaign. Not only will you be giving funds to a campaign that they may feel passionate about, but you can also sign them up to receive a Perk. His or her name will be displayed on the campaign page under the Funders tab for everyone to see.
Please note that if you are a campaign owner, contributing to your own campaign even on behalf of friends and family is prohibited by our Terms of Use. Please see here for more information.
For most campaigns, you will be able to elect to make your contribution for someone else on the first stage of the contribution process, right after you click on a perk. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see Contribution Appearance:
- Select the third radio button, 'Other,' and enter the name of the person you'd like to be attributed to your contribution.
There are some campaigns where you'll need to complete the payment flow and set the name once you get to the 'Thank You' page. If the pay flow of campaign to which you are contributing does not look like the image above, then that is a case where you'll need to complete your transaction and then edit your name when you arrive on the 'Thank You' page.
Appearance on Comments:
Setting your contribution appearance when you complete your transaction will ONLY set the anonymity/name for how your transaction will appear on the Backers Tab of the Campaign page. It does NOT set your name or anonymity on any other interactions on the campaign- including comments.
Any comments you make during the contribution process will be attributed to the name on your account. If you'd like to edit the name that shows up with your comment, you'll need to sign up for an Indiegogo account and edit your name in your account settings. If you do not remember your password, click here to have a new temporary password sent to you.
Anonymity:
Please note that making an 'Anonymous' contribution will only make your contribution appear anonymous, publicly. The Campaigner will receive information about each backer including: name, email address, and shipping address [if applicable]. Anonymous Contributions do not mean you will be anonymous to the Campaigner.
